Jim Furyk has been confirmed as Team USA captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland.
The 55-year-old becomes one of only four US captains to have led the team on multiple occasions since 1979, when continental Europe was established as a team.
Tiger Woods had been the favourite to take over from Keegan Bradley as the US Team's captain for the 2027 event, but chose to rule himself out of consideration following his decision to take a break from golf after a car crash in March.
As the US Team looks to bounce back after back-to-back defeats in Rome and New York, the PGA of America have turned to Furyk, who has plenty of experience both playing and serving as a captain at this tournament.
Furyk has been involved in every US Ryder Cup team for the past 30 years, and captained the team at the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in Paris, where his side were beaten 17.5 to 10.5 by their European opponents.
"The opportunity to captain the US Ryder Cup team for a second time is a tremendous honour," Furyk said upon the announcement. "I am deeply grateful to the PGA of America Ryder Cup committee for entrusting me to lead our team into the 46th Ryder Cup.
"My passion for the Ryder Cup and dedication to the US team have never been stronger. Having previously captained the team, I understand the responsibilities and immense pride that come with this role.
"I look forward to drawing on that experience while incorporating some new ideas as we prepare for 2027. I am committed to putting our players in the best position to succeed as we work to reclaim the Cup on European soil."
Furyk made his playing debut in 1997 and went on to feature in nine consecutive tournaments, up until 2014, which included two winning sides and seven losing teams.
The 2003 US Open champion has also been a vice-captain in 2016, 2021, 2023 and 2025.
Furyk has previously opened up on why he enjoyed attending the Ryder Cup as the US Team's captain.
